Nature

The location of the Olympiada is one of the most vegetated areas of Halkidiki, combining, in a harmonious way, the beauty of the mountain and the sea. Near the village you can walk on the amazing (charted) walking routes from the intersection of Varvara to the waterfalls of the Aristotelian Mountain, a paradise on earth protected by the European network Natura 2000! You can also hike through the forest of Holomontas, just 8 km from the village of Olympiada or reach the island of Kafkanas on a unique boat trip, 2.5 km from the picturesque port. If you love diving, the neighbouring village of Stratoni is a unique opportunity to admire the rare hippocampus colony! You can also take a day trip to the neighbouring prefecture of Serres and visit the cave of Alistratis, one of the largest in Greece, which is located at a distance of 83 km, as well as the Aggitis cave, the largest river cave in the world that can be visited.

Archaeological tourism

With the ancient Stageira in Olympiada, the home of the great philosopher Aristotle, the wider area is of a huge archaeological interest. Besides, her name comes from the mother of Aristotle's most famous student, Alexander the Great. At a distance of 30 km from Olympiada you can visit the Aristotle Grove and walk on the Aristotle trail, while at a distance of just 40 km you will find the famous Xerxes’ Canal completed in 480 BC. Just 37 km from the prefecture of Serres, you can also visit the museum of Amphipolis, the famous Kasta Tomb and the lion of Amphipolis.

Beaches

The beaches of Olympiada have clear blue waters and golden sand. Enjoy your swim on the beach of the village almost in front of the hotel or walk to the nearby beaches just out of the village! In about 2 km you will find a number of organized beaches with relaxing beach bars, as well as more "secret" beaches with wild beauty, which are only accessible on foot.

Religious tourism

The Holy Monastery of the Annunciation, the nunnery in the area of ​​Olympiada, is an attraction for dozens of visitors throughout the year. Of course, the village of Olympiada is just a stone's throw away from the most important Orthodox religious site: Mount Athos. On a daily basis, thousands of pilgrims from all over the world flock to cross over on boat and marvel at some of the oldest ornaments of Byzantine and modern Christian art. However, beyond Mount Athos, there are many monasteries and chapels of exceptional architecture in the surrounding area.

Day Trips

Starting from Olympiada, you can easily visit the picturesque Ouranoupoli and the beautiful island of Ammouliani with its crystal clear exotic beaches (just 10 minutes by boat from the port of Tripiti). Only men are allowed to visit Mount Athos. Another wonderful excursion, only 40 minutes drive from Olympiada, is at Lake Volvi in ​​the prefecture of Thessaloniki, which is protected by the European network Natura 2000. It is worth noting that starting from Olympiada, you can make wonderful trips to Thessaloniki, Kavala and Drama, located less than an hour away.
